EURO-TOQUES AT THE HEAD OF THE OPEN DAYS RECEPTION
“CULINARY TOUR OF THE EUROPEAN REGIONS”
11 OCTOBER 2011 AT THE COMMITTEE OF THE REGIONS IN BRUSSELS
ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE OPEN DAYS WEEK
Repeating the success of 2007 and 2008, the official reception of the Open Days will be organised this year by Euro-Toques, the European Community of Cooks. It will be held at the head office of the Committee of the Regions, in Brussels, on the 11 October.
A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCOVER THE CULINARY DIVERSITY
Famous Chefs from thirteen countries will prepare and present regional specialties to more than 1,000 guests. It will also be the chance for chefs to promote quality, artisanal, local, traditional and flavoured food products. Invited guests, among others, will include the Members of the Committee of the Regions, Members of the European Parliament, European Commissioners and other Commission officials, ambassadors, representatives from businesses as well as partners from regional offices in Brussels.
ONE OF THE LARGEST EVENTS IN BRUSSELS ORGANISED WITHIN THE EUROPEAN INSTITUTIONS
In 2010, the Open Days was awarded the 'Best Event 2009' in the category of ’Associations and Institutional Meetings’ at the annual awards ceremony organised during Brussels Meetings Week, a Europe-wide conference of specialists of the meeting industry.
ALLIANCE BETWEEN GASTRONOMY AND WINE
Euro-Toques and the Comité Européen des Entreprises Vins (CEEV), which represents the wineries and wine business in the European Union, are working in collaboration to enhance the European culinary heritage and the quality and diversity of the European gastronomies. While top Euro-Toques chefs will indeed propose specialties from their respective countries, CEEV will provide quality wines from thirteen regions of six countries, matching each of the menus proposed by the chefs. The reception will also be an opportunity to present the ‘Wine In Moderation, Art de Vivre’ Programme, underscoring how our gastronomy and our wines enjoyed responsibly are integral part of the European life and culture.
A BROAD EU PARTNERSHIP
Other partners of Euro-Toques will work together at the reception to provide guests with European products of quality, and in particular different sorts of water will be presented by the European Federation of Bottled Waters (EFBW). Euro-Toques would like also to thank Philipponat (Champagne), Bridor (Bread) and the Belgian Gastronomy schools for helping chefs in their work as well as to the wineries Members of CEEV (Carpenè Malvolti, Erbeldinger, Markgrafler, Nes – C.P.C. SPA, Righi-Grupo Itallaino Vini, Samos Wines, Semeli, Sigalas, Sogrape, Sovidis Patriache, Studert-Prum Maximinhof, Torres) for providing premium wines from Regions across EU.
